Description

In this course, we will introduce the learner to the concept of stress. First, we describe the biological processes underlying the stress response, then we show the psychological mechanisms related to stress as well as the most important factors that explain interindividual differences in stress. Finally, the course presents how we cope with stress and what we can do to prevent stress.

Stress is an everyday phenomenon that affects all of us and that potentially leads to serious consequences. In order to prevent the negative consequences (e.g. stress-related diseases), it is important to understand what biological and psychological factors trigger or influence the body’s stress-response. Using virtual reality as a visualization tool, this course not only presents the most important ideas in a clear and fascinating way but also allows the audience to learn about the how modern science and medicine approach stress.

Taking this course will help to deepen one’s knowledge regarding stress, while also provide some practical information on how to cope with stressful situations.

Format

The course is composed of 4 modules. Each module consists of video lectures followed by a multiple-choice quiz. The modules and video lectures should be used in the given order, however, you can go back and forward between them as much as you wish.

Assessment and certification

For each module, there are multiple-choice quizzes at the end of each module.

After having looked at all the tabs, browsed through all the videos, and answered all the quizzes with approval, if you achieve a score of 50% or more you will be able to obtain the certificate of participation.
