What you will learn

  • Understand what operating systems are.
  • Understand what systems interoperability is (the ability of different systems to work together).
  • Learn about interoperability standards and protocols (such as file sharing and using networks between different systems).
  • Become familiar with simple programmes and tools that help computers communicate with each other.
  • Identify the most common problems and how to solve them.

Description

In this course, you will learn in a straightforward and clear way how different operating systems such as Windows, Linux and macOS can work together. The course explains how computers, systems and devices need to communicate with one another for everything to function smoothly — whether at work, at home, or in essential services such as healthcare or education.

Assessment and certification

At the end of each module, in order to assess your progress, you will complete a test with a compulsory learning check, which will account for 50% of the final grade. At the end of the course, you will take a Final Assessment Test worth 50% of the final mark.
