What you will learn

After completion of the MOOC learner/teacher (MOOC participants) will be able to:

  • Understand the importance of Soft Skills and Entrepreneurial Skills in education/teaching
  • Identify skills to improve in the educators through the self-assessment
  • Apply it in class context with the introduction of the different facilitation techniques
  • Understand the need of guiding students through a mentoring process
  • Identify and develop mentorship skills though the mentoring examples
  • Implement mentorship skills learned in the class
  • Understand the importance of collaborating with industry to approach the real life to students
  • Identify relevant industry partners that can improve the knowledge of the students
  • Establish collaborative partnerships with industry to develop visits and training as facilitation techniques

Description

This MOOC want to contribute to strengthen the resources available for mentoring our students, integrating their educators on an entrepreneurial mentorship scheme that will allow them to facilitate also the students' self knowledge process.

This course will also promote shortening the gap between Academia and the Business Sector by creating an ecosystem that takes advantage of existing mentoring networks, business experts, key stakeholders, together with the consortium HEI partners' knowledge and scientific poll, a constant exchange and interaction between both educators and mentors that will share common tools and entrepreneurial skills, but also will complement each others expertise and knowledge in the benefit of the students.

We create a training program that focuses on developing a set of Facilitation techniques to allow Educators to gain new skills and competences that will allow them to engage better with students and support them in achieving their goals and personal objectives.

Format

The MOOC counts with four modules focused on the three pillars: the importance of hard and soft skills, the role of mentoring and how to be a good mentor and the importance of the ecosystem in reducing the gap. The fourth module is a compilation of the selected facilitation techniques chosen for the goal of the FEEF methodology.

Prerequisites

Any Educator who would like to improve the solf skills and entrepreneurial education of their students and find new tools on how to reduce the gap between Academia and Business sector. Additionally, any Business people taht want to be close to the Academia sector may benefit from this course.

Assessment and certification

The evaluation is done through quiz and tests. To obtain the Certificate you must have at least 75% in the assessment

Course plan

M1: Soft Skills - In the context of reducing the gap between Academia and Business: In this Module you will learn about soft skills and entrepreneurial education and their importance in bridging the gap between education & business world.
M2: In the context of reducing the gap between Academia and Business: In this module we will discuss why it is important for educators to develop mentoring skills and present some best practices.
M3: The importance of the ecosystem in reducing the gap between Academia and Business: In this module we discuss the importance of the ecosystem and how the FEEF methodology can reduce the gap and also went to the field to understand how the academics and the industry feel about one another and gathering some insight on how to reduce the gap.
M4: The facilitation techniques: In this module we will be addressing the selected facilitation techniques of the FEEF project.
