Prof. Filipe Duarte Santos has a Ph.D. in Theoretical Physics and is a full Professor of Physics, Geophysics, and Environment at the University of Lisbon, as well as the Director of the Ph.D. program on Climate Change and Sustainable Development Policies in Lisbon.
Dr. Santos was Vice-President of the UN Commission on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space, delegate of the Conference of Parties of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, coordinator of the SIAM Project, “Climate Change in Portugal. Scenarios, Impacts and Adaptation Measures”, and principal investigator of several research projects in the area of climate change and environment.
As the President of CNADS, Dr. Santos was recently nominated, by the Ministry of the Environment, coordinator of the Working-Group for the National (Portuguese) Strategy for the Coastal Zones.
Prof. Santos contributed with classes for Module 2 of the MOOC “The Earth System as a Global Common”.
