The development and availability of a MOOC on research data management is part of the development of national training services for Open Science, which seeks to respond to various existing training needs, particularly with regard to research data management.
The "Essentials of RDM" course focuses on the main components for a broad and functional understanding of the processes associated with data management throughout the research lifecycle: i) what is research data; ii) data management plans; iii) documenting and organizing data; iv) data licensing, protection and ownership; v) sharing and depositing data in repositories; vi) funders' requirements for sharing data and publishers' policies for making data available.
The MOOC is aimed primarily for researchers and doctoral students, seeking to provide them with the basic knowledge and skills to manage the data they produce as part of their research. The MOOC is also useful for other professionals who support research data management.
