What you will learn

Explore and identify the basic concepts and definition of data, including data types and the data lifecycle
Describe at least three ways data can be used in an organisation’s strategy, such as supporting decision-making, improving internal processes or creating new products and services
Explain how data can generate competitive advantage by identifying at least two benefits for organisations that use data effectively
Outline good data governance practices, naming at least three essential elements: internal policies, metadata management, and the definition of roles and responsibilities
Identify security measures used to protect data, such as access control, encryption, backups and monitoring

Description

This course provides a comprehensive introduction to the world of data, covering everything from basic concepts and data types to the data lifecycle and the importance of data as a business asset. Participants will learn how data is used for decision-making, process optimisation and gaining competitive advantages. In addition, the course explores data governance, including policies, metadata management, data quality, security and compliance with regulations such as the GDPR.

Assessment and certification

At the end of each module, in order to assess your progress, you will complete a test with a compulsory learning check, which will account for 50% of the final grade.

At the end of the course, you will take a Final Assessment Test worth 50% of the final mark.
